岡山城

The castle of Okayama was built in 1590. The postcard shows the ruin of the castle which was deserted in 1869 and had been pulled down year by year until 1890. Only the inner citadel and a few annex were intact by that time. A part of the clearing was converted into the junior high school of Okayama in 1896. The picture shows a gate of the school, some students standing near by, schoolhouses (right and left side) and a part of the castle (middle in the distance) on the stonewall surrounded by the moat.
All of them were burnt to ashes by the B-29 bombardment on June 29 in 1945.

およそ80年昔の姿です。
不明瞭ですが、画面中央上方に焼失前の岡山城の一部が見えます。

これは同じ場所の現在の姿です。
現在は岡山第一中学校は無く、市立商業学校の場所には岡山県立図書館があります。
ですから正確には名所ではありませんが。
